Underground Manager
We are pleased to be partnering with one of our great clients to recruit an Underground Manager on a permanent basis for gold project near Kalgoorlie to lead the start-up of new underground operations. From construction through to production, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the people, systems, and culture that will define long-term success.
Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will take ownership of the safe establishment and operational readiness of two underground mines. As the appointed Underground Manager for both sites, you will hold statutory accountability while leading from the front to embed a high-performance, safety-first culture. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and operational depth, ideal for someone who thrives in building environments and leaving a lasting legacy.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end start-up underground mining operations, from development through to steady-state production
- Act as the statutory Underground Manager across both sites, ensuring full compliance with regulatory obligations
- Establish and drive a zero-harm safety culture, with strong visibility and leadership in the field
- Implement robust systems, processes, and controls across mine planning, scheduling, and execution
- Build, lead and develop high-performing teams, including succession planning and capability frameworks
- Ensure all regulatory reporting, inspections, and compliance requirements are met to the highest standard
- Align operational delivery with strategy, driving performance, continuous improvement, and value creation
- Identify and execute improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
- Minimum 10 years’ underground mining experience
- Degree in Mining Engineering recognised in Australia
- WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate
- Strong technical and operational expertise in underground mining
- Excellent planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Commercial acumen with a focus on cost and productivity optimisation
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
- Manual C class driver’s licence.
