I didn't recognize it clearly at the time, but Diggers 'n' Dealers last year was depressing. Let's not do that again.
This is not the time to be frozen with fear (that time was late 2008), it is not the time to be overly cautious (that time was early in 2009). Now is the time to be looking widely at all of the opportunities that surround you and to size them up. Then it is the time to take confident sensible steps to position yourself. Those that do this now will be declared the winners in 10-20 years.
As we wrote earlier this year,

Life remains fabulous and those who are exhibiting cautious optimism right
now will inherit the earth of the future. Said more sensibly, whatever your world, your career, or your business environment; be making plans now for the eventual return of better times and you will be well rewarded in years to come.
To do this you must look out further than next week and recapture a sense of the future and then start to position yourself for it.
And remember that prophecies are usually self fulfilling.
I would encourage you to focus squarely on some of these tips below to help you crystallise this mode of thinking and to hopefully help you gain an edge over the pack.
Waste not one moment focussing on how hard it all is.
Accept it. Get on with it.
